Pet Licensing and Fees

All dogs must be licensed within thirty days of the dog reaching the age of 4 months or within 5 days if 4 months old by someone eighteen of age or older. Licenses may be obtained at the City offices. A maximum of two dogs is allowed at any one residence unless a residential or commercial kennel license is obtained. A maximum of two cats is allowed at any one residence. This may be in addition to the legally licensed dogs.

Vaccination Washington City requires that all dogs have current rabies vaccination. But we recommend full vaccination ("5in1") for better general pet health. The Washington Family Family Veterinary Clinic offers a one stop Licensing and Vaccination. They can be reached at 627-1300 or 969 N 3050 E in Washington.

License fees: Female dog, $20.00, male dog, $20.00, spayed or neutered dog, $10.00, late fee (after the last day of February), $10.00 per dog. Residential kennel licenses may be obtained for a one time fee of $50.00. The annual license for a third dog is $50.00 and a fourth dog is $75.00. No licenses for cats.

Impound fees: First impound, $25.00, second impound, $50.00, third impound, $75.00. A board fee of $10.00 per day is charged in addition to the impound fee.
